Melt-Proof Tricks For the Inner Beach Babe or Island Goddess!

Beauty Digest, cosmetics No Comments »

200805202013When you’re jet-setting from island to island, the last thing you want to deal with is your makeup melting off. And since loads of makeup won’t hold up too well in hot weather, you want to follow the “less is more” approach: whether it be lounging on the beach or heating it up on the dance floor with the locals. Here are some easy beauty looks and melt-proof tips that will keep you looking sexy and radiant day or night!Beach BabeMany of you may think that wearing makeup to the beach is pointless since it’ll just wear off before your feet even touch the sand. But thanks to superior brands and formulations, you no longer have to worry about mascara running, foundation melting, or eyeshadow fading. Keep in mind: you don’t want to look like you spent hours applying makeup to tan on the beach or frolic in the ocean. Fun in the sun gives your cheeks a natural flush and a bronzy glow. Make your tan work for you and enhance that natural flush using a few key products.Face200805202015Look beautiful in the sun but don’t forget to protect that beautiful face! Prep your skin with a sunblock like  Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protection Cream SPF 55 ($33). This facial sunscreen is designed to block powerful UVA/UVB rays, absorbs quickly and doesn’t leave a sticky white residue on the skin. The best part is that it is extremely water-and-perspiration-resistant! My skin is really sensitive to sunscreen, but a makeup artist I know whose skin tends to react to sunscreen swears by this!2008052020162. If you are blessed with flawless skin, skip the foundation. But if you can’t stand to go au naturel, you’re in luck because there are a few brands that carry water-resistant ones! Make Up For Ever is one of my favorite brands and is popular for its fabulous water-resistant products. With your ring finger, dab on  Make Up For Ever Full Cover ($30), a full-coverage concealer that also doubles as a foundation where needed. A little goes a long way so use it sparingly. The compact squeeze tube makes it perfect for traveling.200805202016-1For a lighter option try Cover FX Skin Tint FX Moisturizing Treatment & Tint SPF 30 ($42). Another great brand, this tinted moisturizer will even out your skin tone and give you a natural sun-kissed glow while repairing the skin.2008052020173. Skip the powder, but if you have extremely oily skin you can apply a mattifier like Make Up For Ever All Mat ($45) before applying any makeup.200805202017-1Another great choice is to mist and set your makeup with Make Up For Ever Mist and Fix ($27). This is a light spray that sets your makeup to withstand extreme conditions while refreshing the skin.Eyes2008052020181. Play up your eyes with a bit of iridescence using Make Up For Ever Pearly Waterproof Eye Shadow Pencil ($18 each). I love these pencils—no creasing or fading here! The sheer texture also gives the perfect amount of color, so you won’t ever look overdone. Just swipe on your lid and blend edges with your ring finger. I like Pearly Golden Pink and Shimmering Taupe: both shades look gorgeous against bronze skin.200805202018-12. Curl those lashes! Even when I leave the house with no makeup, I always make sure to do this. My preferred lash curler is—but of course—the  Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler ($19). Curling the lashes opens the eyes and makes them look awake.2008052020193. Smudgy, runny mascara is just not a pretty sight! Do yourself a favor and use only waterproof mascaras like my favorite L’Oreal Voluminous Waterproof Mascara ($6.29). It delivers unbelievable volume without smudging or flaking!Cheeks200805202019-1Enhance that natural flush with a cheek stain like Three Custom Color Specialist Lip and Cheek Stain in Poppy ($20.50). I love this product! The stain leaves your cheeks looking dewy and fresh and lasts all day. Poppy is a warm bold coral that looks amazing against bronze skin.Lips200805202020Use the same Lip and Cheek Stain in Poppy ($20.50) on your lips. A pop of color on the lips is the perfect complement to sun-kissed skin, and a stain also looks more natural. Swipe on a lip balm with an SPF over top using  M.A.C Lip Conditioner Stick SPF 15 ($13). The convenient little tube makes for easy application!Island GoddessBeach babe by day, island goddess by night. After the sun sets, it’s time to sizzle it up and play up your features with some color! Whether dining out or shaking it up on the dance floor, reveal the island goddess in you with shades of turquoise and bronze!Eyes200805202021I love products that enhance the performance of another product!  FACE Atelier Transforming Gel ($18) will transform any powder product into long-lasting, crease-resistant color! Dip your brush into the gel and mix with any eyeshadow or loose pigment and then sweep it onto your lid.2008052020222. Right now I love the Toscana Eye Quartet in Mer Quartet from Lise Watier’s new summer collection ($35 CAD). The palette includes sea turquoise, satin terracotta, matte sand and rose brown with golden sheen. Apply the sand hue as your base from the lash line to the brow bone and into the inner corner of your eye. Then sweep the sea turquoise shade across your lid and into your crease and your bottom lash line. Give your eyes a sultry effect and definition by smudging the rose brown shade into your top lash line and outer crease.Cheeks200805202022-1To balance the eyes and to bring out your golden bronze hue, give your skin some dimension by adding a coppery rose shade to your cheeks like  NARS The Multiple in Cannes ($37). Apply directly from the tube onto your cheeks and blend with your finger. The result is healthy glowing cheeks!Lips200805202023Give those lips some juicy color with Tarte Double Dose Gloss in Acerola Rush ($21), a sheer sparkling golden peach. This dual-powered gloss feels wonderful and makes lips look amazing! The inner berry boost is a T5 concentrated pigment that mixes with the outer shiny gloss, while the T5 Super Fruit Complex is a blend of goji, acai, maracuja, acerola and pomegranate that’s loaded with refining, anti-aging and restorative benefits. Finally … enjoy jet-setting around the world and some fun in the sun! Extreme weather is not a factor for you when you follow these melt-proof beauty tips!
