We’re so excited to be the beauty editors for this month’s edition of The Beauty Ideal! If you’re anything like us, you’ve probably ushered in 2009 with as many new resolutions. Have you broken any yet…cause we sure have!
Seriously though, now is a great time to break some of your bad habits and change some of your old routines. It could be as simple as switching to a new lipstick color…or as major as adopting a new chic shorter do. Whatever you decide, remember this…a little bit of a change never hurt anybody.
Happy New Year!

There’s something about the beauty of winter. Have you seen it yet? I’m not talking about the freezing cold, the slick icy roads, the winter wind biting at your nose. I’m talking about the beauty that we sometimes tend to overlook once the weather turns chilly.
The stillness of the air. The dark of the night. The beauty of snowflakes. The breath taking gasp of snow covered trails. They don’t call it a winter wonderland for nothing.
So while this issue might be all about holiday beauty and the appeal of a new makeup look for that christmas party, or the thrill of getting that beauty gift on a budget; stop to take notice of another kind of beauty that only happens once a year.
So no matter how cold it gets, or how low the wind chill factor is, stop to take the time to notice your little piece of wonder in your part of this world. Here’s to your Winter Wonderland, where ever it may be.
Happy Holidays,

One of my life’s goals is to help each woman feel her most beautiful. As a woman of color, I realize that, often, we are underserved by the beauty industry. It can be frustrating to look for colors that accent our unique beauty, only to find that those colors don’t exist. Thankfully, the industry is expanding rapidly and, every day, more companies are formed and more products are released - nowadays, we have so many more options.
The articles in this month’s edition are focused on tips, tricks, and trends to make every woman of every color feel and look her beautiful best. Enjoy and let me know what you think!
Beautifully,
Toya

Letter from the Beauty Editor – August 2008

When I think of beauty that defies all the laws of time, a graceful sort of woman who is secure in her own skin, regardless of age, I immediately think of the women from our recent past like Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, Lauren Hutton and the ever-so classy Jackie O.
For this month’s issue on Timeless Beauty, the Beauty Ideal writers wanted to focus on everything that is beautiful about every woman with stories, tips and anecdotes on how to stay youthful and find the best looks that work for you, no matter if you’re 20 or 120.
So whether you follow the trends or just want to create your own style, we hope to help you find the secret to your own Timeless Beauty – enjoy!
xoxo,

Asking to be the guest Editor for this month’s issue of The Beauty Ideal is a pretty fantastic thing and I’m ecstatic to be apart of it. Are you feeling the heat yet? Wiping beads of sweat off your head is usually a good indication that summer is officially here. Never mind finding ways to keep cool in the summer. The real challenge is trying to stay beautiful in humid, sticky weather. That is why my fellow Beauty Ideal writers have put summer’s must-have products to the test from head to toe. Beat the heat and look dazzling this summer with this season’s top beauty tips and products!

I’m honored to be the Beauty Editor of the first issue of The Beauty Blog Network’s partnership with Total Beauty! As a member of both of these fantastic networks, I know this merger will yield synergetic, positive results.
It’s also serendipitous that I was asked to edit the May issue because, while I am always a beauty fanatic, this is my FAVE time of year for beauty. Why? Because late spring/early summer beauty always involves brighter colors, healthier, more vibrant skin, and sexy summer shimmer. Though we’re not officially into summer yet, I bust out my été products the moment the weather tops 60 degrees. Premiering your fall cosmetics before the leaves have turned colors is just depressing… but showcasing your summer colors the minute you unearth your super-light trench? WHOLLY appropriate.
Read on to find out what SPF-infused, waterproof, bronzing, and perfect pedicure products my fellow Beauty Ideal writers can’t wait to rock.
Enjoy and summer pretty, dolls!
