Style maven Britt Bardo attributes her success to hard work and being in the right place at the right time. But her serious sense of style hasn't hurt either. Bardo has emerged as a celebrity favorite, with clients like Kate Hudson and Cameron Diaz. Now, she's the Style Expert for Mark Cosmetics.  Here, she spills her top insider tips:

1. Congratulations on being named a Mark Style Expert! How did you make the leap from Midwestern girl to celebrity stylist?
Thank you! I feel very blessed to be part of the Mark team. I never set out to be a celebrity stylist! I studied photography in Detroit and by process of elimination, I guess you could say, I realized styling is what I wanted to do. So I packed my stuff and moved to NYC. It was a lot of hard work and determination, but it also was meeting the right people at the right time.

2. How would you describe your signature look?
Effortless and easy... with amazing shoes and accessories.

3. What are your favorite trends this season?
Menswear-inspired pieces, leather leggings, oversized relaxed blazers.

4. What trend would you most like to see disappear?
Tights with open-toe shoes

5. Describe your 'I made it moment'.
I don't necessarily feel I have ever felt that! Being asked to become a Mark expert definitely makes me feel that my hard work has paid off, though. Also, having my own clothing line ROSE with my friend Jewels Steger feels like a great accomplishment.

Netherlands-born hairstylist Fred Vandebunt started his career in a small salon and is now one of the most sought after stylists in the industry. He's been living in New York since 1994 and has worked for magazines from Sports Illustrated to Harper's Bazzar. And lately, his celebrity clientele has grown to include Taylor Momsen (little Jenny Humphrey on Gossip Girl)! Here, he shares his favorite tips and tricks.

1. Why do you think you decided to become a hair stylist?
I always was working with my hands. Hair became the big challenge and I stuck
to it. Could have been a sculptor or carpenter as well....

When I did my first photo shoot in Paris with Kate Moss. She had just
turned 13.

3. What inspires you?
Life

4. Which iconic hairstyles do you love?
The five-point cut from Vidal Sassoon.

5. Who inspires you?
I don't have a who. I have many situations that stop me dead in my
tracks. That inspires me.

rita_hazan2.jpgNative New Yorker Rita Hazan has quickly risen to the top of the haircare industry, with her own Manhattan salon and a host of celebrity clients. Read on to find out what hair trends Rita loves most right now!

1. As a leading celebrity hair colorist and salon owner, how did you get
your start?

I went to beauty school and knew exactly where I wanted to work. After I worked with
Oribe, I interviewed with Brad Johns and got hired on the spot.

2.  What are your hair "don'ts"?
Don't go too extreme: too light or too dark, too fake, too long or too
short, too many extensions, too many highlights.  I think less is more with
hair.

3. As a regular on Oprah's make-over segment, what is your favorite instant
pick-me-up?

Highlights are always an easy way to brighten up your hair.

4. With clients like Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Lopez and Britney Spears, you
are truly a blond master. Do you have a favorite hair shade of blond?

I love color, period. My favorites are blonde and brunette: any tone, all
shades.

5. What products can you not live without?
Phyto Nectar Oil.

Beauty Digest, Caroline Wozniacki, Sports, interview No Comments »
When it comes to tennis, for Caroline Wozniacki it was love (pun-intended) at first sight. Hailing from a family of former athletes (her father was a professional soccer player and her mother Anna was a pro-volleyball player), Caroline seems bound...

Bella Interview: Chandler Burr, Perfume Critic

Beauty Digest, Fragrance, chandler burr, interview No Comments »

Yesterday I wrote about The Perfect Scent, Chandler Burr's fascinating book about a year in the perfume industry. (You can read an excerpt to find out why I'm so smitten with his prose.) When it comes to fragrance, Burr is one of the world's most knowledgeable experts. That's why I was so excited to speak with him about everything from celebrity scents to perfume shopping. Check out the first part of our interview, and be sure to come back tomorrow for more.

Both fragrances that you wrote about — Un Jardin Sur Le Nil and Lovely — have been successful. But what kind of story might have happened if they hadn't been?
I thought about that a lot, actually. I was very, very happy to be able to write about two perfumes that I really liked, two perfumes that were commercially successful. Had they not been, I really don't know. Julie Salamon was invited to follow the making of a movie. She did the same thing I did, but with The Bonfire of the Vanities. The novel was called The Devil's Candy. It was about the making of an absolutely disastrous movie. If that had happened to me, I would have done the same thing.

For Chandler's thoughts on celebrity fragrance,
