I am not surprised by the results of Best Foundation of 2008. Whenever Bare Escentuals Foundation ($25) is mentioned on this site, loads and loads of comments come in raving about the brand. I've got to agree. Its foundations do provide great coverage, last for ages, and come in a variety of shades.
Oh, and since so many of you wrote in that you loved the blendability and color selection of L'Oreal True Match Super Blendable Makeup ($9.29), it looks like I'll have to put that on my list of must-try drugstore foundations. As for my pick? I'm going with Prescriptives on this one. With a wide variety of formulations and a custom match, you just can't go wrong with its attention-to-detail kind of service. Want more? Check out the rest of our Best of 2008 coverage throughout the Sugar network right now.

If you haven't tried tube mascaras yet, you'll be glad to know that drugstore versions are rolling out. One of the first is L'Oréal Double Extend Lash Extension Effect Mascara ($9.79), a two-step mascara with "beauty tube technology."
Tube mascaras are great for making lashes look longer, and because the formulas come off with warm water, they're much easier to remove. I'm a fan of Mirenesse Secret Weapon, but will L'Oréal's version perform as well? For the verdict (with pictures),
Doing Drugstore: L’Oreal Bare Naturale Gentle Mineral Eyeliner
Beauty Digest, Doing Drugstore, L'Oreal, eyeliner No Comments »
Eyeliners come in so many forms. You've got your gels, your creamy pencils, your liquid types — and then there are the ones that are composed entirely of powder. Last week, I was at the drugstore and I came upon the latter. I'm such a sucker for unusual packaging, and this Bare Naturale Eye Shadow ($8.99) from L'Oreal caught my eye.
My co-worker and I took a field trip to the ladies' room to try out this new liner. So, we both knew how we are supposed to "swirl and tap" before applying mineral types of makeup, but we got a little frustrated with the powdery mess that was created. While we liked the fact that the angled brush is included (how could you lose this one?), it was awkward to twist open without causing major spillage.
Speaking of that brush: I'm a fan, but my co-worker felt it was difficult to hold. Soft and angled, the line we created was precise, but not heavy. (Unfortunately, it was hard to control, hence the errant powder you see below.) While the line is sharp, if you're looking for longevity and stay-put power, this powder doesn't do the job. By the end of the day we had rings under our eyes, and we both agreed to leave this one in the, er, dust.

Get ready to see many more melon-colored nails this spring. Check out Kristen Bell promoting her new movie Forgetting Sarah Marshall. While her fingernails are a quite bright, there are tons of varying raspberry and fruit-punch colored polishes to choose from. Here are three of my favorite juicy melon-colored nail lacquers.
L'Oreal Pro Manicure Nail Polish in Mango Get Em ($4.99) is a quick-drying, toluene- and formaldehyde-free polish that claims to last seven days without chipping. It also contains a strengthening pro-keratin ingredient and results in a high-shine finish.
