This time of year, the words "clay mask" are like nails on a chalkboard to me. Right now, I'm all about hydrating my parched skin. Here, five masks that put back what's missing:
Clarins Thirst Quenching Hydra-Care Mask. This creamy mask alleviates any tightness. You can also use it whenever you want, not once a week. Good thing. $35.
Avène Soothing Moisture Mask. Everything this brand does is so cushy and gentle, this triglyceride-and-thermal-spring-water mask included. $20.
L'Occitane Immortelle Cream Mask. The Immortelle flower won't wilt or weather after being picked, which is why L'Occitane put its vitamin-packed essential oil into this rejuvenating mask. $60.
Duchess Marden Damascena Hydrating Masque. If you hate thick, goopy masks, use this. I'm actually able to chat comfortably on my cell while wearing it. $52.
Darphin Hydrating Kiwi Mask. Shea butter, vitamin E, moisturizing natural extracts—you get what you pay for with Darphin. $60.
Confession: Sometimes I sleep in these guys, like a night cream, for extra hydration. Hey, whatever works, right?

Even if I get eight hours of sleep, my undereye circles still make me look like a prize fighter.
What gives? Boston-based dermatologist Ranella Hirsch broke it down for me.
Dark undereye circles are genetic. "Those dark blood vessels underneath the eyes look more visible on people with pale skin," she says.
Blue circles are typically caused by blood pooling under the eyes, while yellow or brown circles are usually a buildup of melanin caused by the sun.
And they're only going to get worse (hey, thanks). "As the collagen pads underneath your eye start to deteriorate with age, the hollow area also makes the discoloration more obvious," she says.
Hirsch's advice: Look for an eye cream that will plump up your skin and make it look rejuvenated, if temporarily. Two ingredients to look for: Hyaluronic acid and glycerin.
And, of course, cover that stuff up.
"Nothing works better than concealer," she says. Tough news, coming from a derm.
Her favorite is Dermablend Cover Duet Custom Corrector ($21.50).
Me? I'm a fan of Benefit Erase Paste ($26). And sunglasses.
Let me guess: It's cold, the indoor heater has kicked in, and your face is getting more parched by the second. Solution: Switch to a new cleanser.
Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser, $12, gets rid of dirt and oil but doesn't disturb your natural moisture. It's fragrance-free and perfect for sensitive types.
Clarins Extra Comfort Cleansing Cream, $40 is made with plant-based goodies, like shea butter, jojoba, and palm oil, so it's ideal for really dry complexions.
Shu Uemura Cleansing Beauty Oil Premium, $32 has soothing chamomile and licorice root, and won't make your skin feel tight.
Neutrogena Extra Gentle Cleanser, $6.49, is an oldie but a goodie. It adds moisture to your skin, and has chamomile and vitamin E to help calm down freaked-out complexions.
Clinique Redness Solutions Soothing Cleanser, $20.50 has glycerin, which attracts water into the skin, caffeine to combat irritation, and oat extract to soothe.
Another beauty editor's secret? If your skin is still super-dry, don't wash your face in the morning. Instead, refresh skin with a cleansing cloth infused with aloe or vitamin E. I swear, it works.
