Cheap Treats: Spa Week Starts October 13

Spaweekpost_2 Wanna get mad? The Huffington Post reports that after receiving $85 billion of taxpayers' bailout money, the mucky mucks at AIG took their winning team on a corporate retreat, where they spent $23,000 at the hotel spa and $1,400 at the salon for manis, pedis, facials, and massages.

The rest of us have to pay for own treatments. But that just got easier, because it's almost Spa Week!

From October 13 to 19, participating spas in some parts of the country will be offering a selection of services for $50 a pop. The hardest part will be picking from this incredible menu. Here are my picks:

In New York City: Bunya CitiSPA's 60-minute Touch and Ballet Toes treatment combines a manicure and pedicure with reflexology.

In Chicago: Bliss offers a 45-minute version of its signature massage, the Blissage. (It's fabulous.)

In Boston: Violet Skin Boutique's 50-minute Chocolate Facial is formulated to lift and tighten. The real treat? You'll get a nice shoulder massage, too.

In Arlington, Virginia: Salon Cielo and Spa offers a 60-minute Kérastase Deep Conditioning Treatment, blow-out, and eyebrow wax.

In Miami. At Brownes Beauty Lounge, $50 goes a long way. There, you get a yoga class, plus a mani and pedi.

Go to spaweek.org to find participating spas in your area. And book now—these slots will fill up faster than you can say "bail us out again."

Life Just Got Easier! Bliss’s Online Booking System

Beauty Digest, Spas No Comments »

Blissonline I decide to call and book a relaxing spa appointment...and my stress level skyrockets.

Either I sit on hold for long enough to forget who I called and why, or I get stuck to the spa's mis-hire, who snaps her gum and tells me nothing's available

But the clouds have passed: I can now book a Bliss appointment on their dotcom.

A concept so simple, I'm stunned more spas haven't done it sooner.

Here's the deal: Create an online account (it takes two seconds), browse the menu, and pick your services. (There are tons to choose from.) You'll get an instant booking confirmation upon checkout, which you can cancel or modify if need be.

Three cheers for no more wait time, hostility, or wondering if your coworkers heard you book your Brazillian.
